Bitdefender is one of the top antivirus scanners on Mac that has consistently high rates of malware detection and a variety of other useful security features. However, the application isn’t without shortcomings.
The default interface of the suite is simple to navigate, and it has features in three categories: Protection Utilities, Privacy, and Protection. The Protection tab is a focus on the features you would expect from an antivirus suite, including real-time scanning, firewall monitoring and ransomware countermeasures. The Privacy tab outlines ways to be secure on the internet, including a secure browser that runs websites inside the sandbox to stop malware from infecting your regular browser. The Utilities tab contains optimization tools and the file shredder, which erases files with specialized algorithms to render them unrecoverable even if they’ve been deleted.
Premium plans also include password management, as well as a solution called “Anti-Tracker” which www.jnetrading.co.uk/smart-business-management-with-data-room-software can block web services from tracking you excessively. The program has a vulnerability scanner that detects outdated applications and passwords that are not secure, or Windows updates that haven’t been applied. It also offers a quick custom scan which only takes five minutes, and is significantly more quickly than competitors like Norton and TotalAV.
The only drawback to the application is its slow installation that can be a pain for users who want to get started right away. Additionally the application’s “Reveal in the Finder” option doesn’t work, which is a strange omission for an antivirus app that competes with rival products that can accomplish the same thing in just few clicks.
