What is a Board Meeting?

Board Meetings are meetings where the top management members of an organisation (Executive Directors and Non-Executive Directors) collaborate to review and evaluate the performance of the company as well as discuss future plans and projects.

The board of directors is typically composed of people from diverse backgrounds However, they all bring a unique perspective and experience to the table. This allows the board to have an open and productive discussion about diverse topics related to the business’s activities.

During this time the board also reviews the past performance of the company by reviewing sales and profit growth, market share growth, investment strategies, etc. The board will also review any obstacles or roadblocks that may hinder progress and make resolutions to overcome these.

The board typically reads the minutes of the previous meeting prior to beginning with a new agenda. This is done to ensure that the discussions and the decisions made at the previous board meeting are accurately recorded. This allows the board to determine whether there is a quorum present and whether all agenda items have been addressed. Once this is accomplished the meeting can start. During this period, directors are free to present any reports or presentations they want. The board then discusses the reports and presentations. The aim is to generate and discuss ideas on how to help improve the company. It is important that every director is a contributor and offers insight into the company.
